Jennifer Lopez gets momentarily distracted from bashing out formulaic pop to return to the acting career she put on hold to ensure her album�s success. The thing is, she wasn�t exactly a headline name in Hollywood and certainly wasn�t sorely missed, so for her comeback she has to settle for a psycho-thriller every bit as contrived as her music.

It seems like, knowing that this idea had been done so many times already in recent times, it was decided to just be more explicit than anyone else had been and come up with a really twisted modus operandi for the serial killer, plus to actually show him at work. I really wonder about someone who can come up with this stuff and even then is prepared to tell everyone about it by making a screenplay. Anyway, suffice to say it�s pretty unnecessarily naughty at points. The one saving grace is the visuals, which during the dream sequences are colourful and imaginative, shame the director�s time spent in MTV work wasn�t hiding someone as adept at bringing out good performances or making a plot interesting as he is at setting up eye-candy shots.

Oh, I forgot the plot. It�s quite easy to do, everyone else doesn�t seem to care about it that much either. Lopez is a child psychologist using groundbreaking science to enter the mind of a catatonic child, Vincent D�Onofrio is a psycho who does all sorts of weird stuff I won�t bother dwelling on and Vince Vaughn is an FBI agent who looks like he needs a good night�s sleep. Just as the FBI are about to catch their killer, he has a fit and goes into a coma, but to rescue his latest victim they need to get into his mind. So Lopez is sent into his dreamscape to try and get the info. Which is quite apt because everyone seems to be sleepwalking through this entirely forgettable piece of nonsense.
