An often hilarious cult classic, Caddyshack is the sort of way-out-there movie that I find appealing and everyone else thinks is crap. The sense of humour required to appreciate just such a movie (it's pretty much the granddaddy of all gross-out comedies) is simply not present in all people but hey, that's not my problem. Needless to say the simplistic plot is basically an amalgamation of the sporting contest and the loser-against-the-world comedic plotline which, though hardly bursting with laughs, is more than capable of holding it's own.

The woefully misunderstood Chevy Chase has all the best lines but Bill Murray's psychopathic greenskeeper Carl steals every scene as he goes about his task of annihilating gophers (the films well-remembered subplot) with an obsessive zeal. Every other character could have been fashioned from the big book of cliches but most still succeed in being funny. If you're looking for predictable but chucklesome entertainment,
Caddyshack is the film.
