Horror

Eli Roth, the director of this movie, was hyping it to kingdom come before it was released, saying it harked back to the old days of horror. I can make the comparison of an old wooden cabin with The Evil Dead and Friday The 13th, but comparisons end there. I expected the directors great knowledge of horror to make this a tense, raw movie, but alas I didnt get that.

Five kids go to cabin to get laid and do drugs, then get infected with a flesh eating virus, which pretty much takes them all down. Its a predictable plot as you can imagine, though I do give the writer of the film praise for not making it a slasher movie, this (on paper) is quite unique. However, in execution, the movies premise isnt that good.

Now, being the horror fan that I am, I normally like my films with a bit of blood and granted it does have it by the bucket load, but I also like it done with a bit of finesse! This film didnt even have good killings, just some blood being randomly thrown everywhere and naked teenagers having sex and then rotting. It just didnt float my boat. At all.

Got to think of some good things, so Ill say the idea was okay, there were a few good moments, like a certain shaving scene, and thats about it.

Dont see this movie. Dont see any horror film at the cinema. Maybe that new
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that looks okay, however all I can say is that the horror genre lately is going downhill, real fast. Someone needs to really resurrect the horror film genre, something new, something fresh, not just cheesy acting and a half baked plot, with a few gallons of blood.
