Horror / Thriller

You can say what you like about the original Blair Witch Project (I personally thought it was really good) but what you cant deny was its phenomenal success and the fact it became one of the most talked about horror films in years. So it was inevitable that a sequel wouldnt be too long in coming. Youll wish it hadnt.

The slightly muddled storyline is that the film is a fictional recreation of real events, in other words no shaky handheld camera work and impenetrable dark, instead replaced with a high budget and a more planned script. A former Burkittsville mental patient is running tours into the woods to capitalise on the huge numbers of film fans descending on the quiet town. Unfortunately on his first tour, after some concerted partying, everyone wakes to find a blindspot in their memories and when bodies start turning up and the fingers are pointing their way, the group must try and reconstruct the missing hours.

Its awful, it really is. The actors are truly dire, unless they were intentionally trying to resurrect memories of school plays or am-dram; special mention goes to the sheriff who was surely just chosen out of the local hobos. The script is inept in the extreme, full of unnecessary and unconvincing swearing with a fragmented narrative structure which by now is so unoriginal that it takes a talented filmmaker to make it work, And talent is something you will not find in this shameful dross.
