Big Momma's House 2
USA, 2006
[John Whitesell]
Martin Lawrence, Nia Long, Emily Procter
Action / Comedy
12th May 2006
Why anyone would want to make a sequel to an already bad movie I do not know, though I must confess I have not seen the original nor do I desire to. I do not rate Martin Lawrence much, hes not a good comedic actor. However I do love Bad Boys 1 and 2, if only thanks to some beautiful action set-pieces from Michael Bay and the saving grace of Will Smith, a true Hollywood giant. It graves me to say therefore that my girlfriend dragged me along to see this debacle, arent I a good boyfriend?

Following the death of his former partner, FBI agent Malcolm Turner (Lawrence) once again goes deep undercover as the rotund Big Momma to become a nanny/housekeeper, infiltrating the prime suspects household whilst trying to keep three dysfunctional children under control... comedy shenanigans ensue yawn.

Working as a combination of
Mr Nanny and Mrs Doubtfire, the movie fails on every level to be funny, heart-warming or exciting. We have seen these tired formulas before using the same stereotypical characters and rub it in your face moral values, and all of these attempts were appalling (with the exception of Mrs Doubtfire). The only plus points that drag the movie up to its 1 star rating are the hot Emily Procter (CSI: Miami) as the yummy mummy, and a few titillating scenes in a luxury spa with some Victorias Secret models.

Yknow, Im not going to go any further, mainly because the movie does not deserve any better, and also because I have realised that I need to educate my girlfriend in cinema post-haste.
