Balls of Fury could have gotten away with a passable score had it been Will Ferrell, Jack Black or Jonah Hill in the lead role. Simply looking at those guys can ensure giggles but Dan Fogler, unfortunately, does not have the same effect.

I cant think of one good thing to say about this movie. It is not funny. At all. However, If you enjoy awful acting, a dire script and terrible jokes then this movie is for you! Matt is sitting next to me laughing hysterically which is actually making me reconsider my marriage right now. Wait? Did I just marry an idiot?

The movie begins with 12 year-old ping pong prodigy Randy Daytona failing embarrassingly in the Olympic final. Duh. No surprise there. Fast forward about 20 years and we see the whizz-kid transformed into a chubby-tubby-podgy loser playing at a lame dinner show where he is met by unfunny FBI agent George Lopez. I really hate this guy and his one hit wonder jokes about how white people are so white. Theyre not even vaguely funny. The jokes I mean, not white people.

Anyway back to the plot. Daytona must help the FBI (Lopez and some other bozos) bring down notorious international criminal Feng (Walken) by being invited to an exclusive underground ping pong tournament in Central America. You see, Feng only invites the best of the best. The lack of jurisdiction over these matters enjoyed by the FBI goes completely unrecorded.

Daytona is trained by Master Wong (Hong) who makes lame blind jokes amongst all the other types of lame jokes. I thought surely if anyone was going to save the movie it might be him, but I was wrong. Again, am I surprised? Not really.

Theres also an apparently important character, Maggie Wong (played by Maggie Q), who is the least hot girl they could have possibly chosen. The movie keeps focusing on her sexuality but there is nothing sexy about her. Stick body? Plain-Jane face? No thanks. I also dont understand why she isnt going to the tournament instead of Randy if shes so amazing at ping pong and already fully-trained.

In a far-fetched movie its amazing they could make an ending this awful. First Maggie shows up in a tiny outfit and gets balls knocked off her head, and then Feng and Randy fight in a jungle rope-bridge ping pong, electroshock duel. Fogler sucked as the lead. Lets hope this is his first and last appearance.
