The following 2000 Cadillac STS has rust in the bottom corner of all four doors (see photos below).  General Motors considers the rusting of three-year-old Cadillacs to be acceptable as they have refused all requests for warranty coverage because the mileage on the vehicle exceeds warranty by 9,000 miles.

If you are considering buying one of these vehicles or the four year warranty on one you hold is coming to an end check all doors on the outside bottom corners.  Press on the paint along the seam to determine metal bonding. The rust may not be evident but the paint layer or sealer bead may have separated from the metal indicating possible concealed rust.
