PROJECT DESCRIPTION  

The teachers from Alberdi School , a Public School in Bell Ville ,Argentina , think how to improve their student’s skills to read and to learn and tell us about it.. The school haven’t a library for their students. They come from the  Town’s underdeveloped areas , they parents can’t help them with books , and educational support  , because the mayority haven’t good education , and  financial  possibilities. In Rotary and Rotaract Bell Ville see in the student’s  handicap an excellent service oportunity ,and we build our own Project : The Program  “we will read togheter”  .

The project consist in : 

1.    a regular activity  of rotarians and members of Rotaract with the students , sharing  reading time every weeck with them ,with differents  activities-modes  for each ages . For example, reading  books to the youngers , helping with  Literature’s  home works for 2-4 grade .        

2.    Provide a Library ,named Dr Oscar Rosso Library , for the school , with all the books that  every student need , so the teachers can give them an optimal education , a computer with printer to organize Library’s  Files with software provided by Goverment , increase with CD ROM , Library and teachers  capability   , and with a  video and TV , that can give good oportunities to  secure students interest  in study , and to learn more about Geography,enviromental problems, Sciences,etc.  Also the necessary furnitures for a library and video.

3.    Paint and put in good condition the room for the Library ,with voluntary work from rotarians ,Interact and Rotaract.

4.    We plain to appeal  to retired teachers that would like to  help us ,So this people will  fill that they continue to serve  to the community.

Every year  the Goverment and Service organizations spend a lot of money in programs to give foods , clothes ,  to this students , but we think that with a better education ,we give them tools So they can build themself  the future. This students come from  structurally poors homes , many with unemployed parents  , bad families . A lot of this students ,in part because haven’t the possibility to learn in the primary school , fail in high school , and  begin to work in   low income jobs , they know nothing . A lot of this students fail in high school  in spite of grants from goverment or Rotary, because haven’t the skills to learn .With books , the teachers will work better  ,and we can help to  stimulate and support  the children.

With this  tools and work we hope to reach  the first objetive : improve students reading habits , and skills to learn .

2^{nd   -}  Increase the number of Alberdi’s  school student that apply to  and graduate in High School

In November 1999 the teachers has tested the students skills ,and in  December 1999 teachers has builded a data base with statistics about children that graduate from Alberdi School and apply to High School , and the status of  former students  with school’s  files ,and what will happen in the next years  , to know if the project have success.

3^rd  -  Increase the time that students are in school  with weeckly activities with Rotary,Interact and Rotaract.

4 th   Give the basis to introduce in the near future the students with computers ,today a long away dream for children that read bad , and  can’t study elementary subjects because haven’t boocks.

5th   Compromise the parents in this projects So they can replace rotarians in the work with teachers and students  wen the project finish. At May 2005 as this point has been hard to accomplish becuase the particular sociocultural behavior from parents , The Inner Wheeel from Bell Ville,decide in 2002 to pay a extraschool support with a Psicopedagogic teacher to assist the students in this school  

  People that will obtain benefits from the project : 150 children , students of school.No direct beneficiary =All the comunnity
