The drive through
the park from south to north is about 40 miles through desert
populated with many types of cactus and other plants, some of which
are pictured here:
A hike to 49 Palms Oasis is 3 miles total and climbs 400 feet. However it climbs the 400 feet many times as you go over ridges to get to the oasis. Here is a sampling of the flora and fauna we saw along the way.
