This is the German album. A great part was recorded in Berlin. That was possible because the Wall wasn't there anymore.
This is the first album in their new style, the wanted to get rid of their Joshua Tree image .The tour which came with this album was one with a lot of light and technique, and was more complicated than the others.
The tour was based on the thought that the media has sensory overload the people with violence on TV. Bono discovered this himself during the gulfwar in 1990.
During the tour was Bono dressed up (In the USA) as The mirrorball man and The Fly. In Europe and Australia he was dressed up as Mr. Mac Phisto and also The Fly.
The song The Fly was written for the movie with the same title.
