Alpha Numerology

This is something i have been doing since i dont remember and i dont how i came to my mind but i automatically do this when i see some numbers or alphabets. Be it banners, vehicle number plates, telephone numbers or anything else. So what is it. It about picking any numbers/alphabets and apply combination of basic operations of addition, subtraction and sometimes multiplication also in the elements so as to reduce them to 0 or 1. Just do anything: cancel common ones,  use 9 as and identity because 9 + any number is the same number considering if one digit sum of all digits are taken, using mapping of alphabets to numbers like a=1, b=2 and so on. I dont know why, or what for i do this. But i just do it when ever i mind is not processing anything. So this about it. Did anyone think its related to stars and moons etc.

1+8 = 9 will cancel the other nine
11 gives 1 and 1 which cancel each other. So number reduced to zero.
