The very popular welcome to fabulous las vegas sign on las vegas blvd.
Welcome to my Las Vegas page!
Here I will share some pictures, most of which I took, on my family's trip to Las Vegas in July!
Las Vegas is known as the new city of lights and entertainment, and you can see why!  Las Vegas blvd. is known as the strip and is home to the largest concentration of hotel rooms in the world.  The picture to the right was taken from over 1,000 feet above the ground on the tallest observation deck in the United States atop the stratosphere tower which is the tallest building in the country west of the Mississippi river.

Below is the Adventuredome as seen from our 30th story room at Circus Circus.  The  Adventuredome is the largest indoor amusement park in North America.  And that is just one more of the many records set in Las Vegas!

Excalibur
Luxor atrium
Luxor was my personal favorite.  I loved the architecture of the place.  As you walk in the main doors, you find yourself in the largest atrium in the world.  You can see all of the walls around you slanted up 30 stories.  The picture above was taken from the 25th floor which I got to in an "inclinator"- an elevator that moves up at a 39 degree angle.

Fountains Fountains
The fountains of Bellagio
These pictures cannot do justice to the fountains.  They are very beautiful and well choreographed to music.  They get my vote as the best free show in Las Vegas.
Fremont street

Fremont Street
A canopy of lights that puts on a show every hour at night over Fremont street in downtown Las Vegas, along with music, brings the largest light and sound show on the planet.  Everything from airplanes and monkeys to funky designs go swirling through the canopy offering a great show to people below.
Treasure Island show Mirage volcano
Treasure Island Pirate Battles
In front of Treasure Island, two ships sailing through the bay get into a conflict during which there is a huge pyrotechnic battle.
Mirage Volcano
Every 15 minutes during the evening, the 55 foot tall volcano in front of the mirage becomes active, shooting "lava" and fire into the air.
Hoover dam

Hoover Dam
At 726 feet, Hoover dam is the tallest solid concrete dam in the western hemisphere.  We didn't take the dam tour but that's okay because I got some good dam pictures.

Wax Whoppi
Here we are catching up with the celebrities in town.  It's too bad that Whoppi Goldberg is actually made of wax and Michael Jackson is actually an impersonator that we saw at a show (or maybe thats really a good thing).
