U of T 5  RMC 1    stats

The Paladins failed to take advantage of a glorious opportunity to move into a second place tie when the Queens Golden Gaels could only manage a 3-3 OT tie with Ryerson with a 5-1 loss against the division leading U of T Blues.  The Blues responded after a shocking loss to the Gaels the night before.

After a closely fought scorless first period, the Paladins opened the scoring at 8:01 of the second when
Greg McDonald (Ottawa,ON/South Ottawa Jr B) netted his second goal in as many games.  Ryan Thebault (Sydney,NS/Riverview HS) and Josh Fudge (Nepean,ON/Nepean Raiders) got the assists on the goal. 

The U of T then responded with 5 four unanswered goals in the second in an 8 minute span including 2 power play goals just over a minute apart at the 10 minute mark.  One of the power play goals was on a 5 on 3 in the second.

The U of T rounded out the scoring with a short handed marker at 19:55 of the third.

RMC was out shot 42 to 30 on the night with
Blair Robertson (Outlook,SK/Quesnell Millionaires) making his second straight start in net.  RMC went 0 for 9 on the power play allowing 1 short handed goal while they killed 6 of 9 penalties.

In other OUA action on the weekend the Queens Golden Gaels increased their lead over RMC with a win over the U of T and a tie against Ryerson.  Queens now sits in second with 13 points while RMC is in third with 11.

RMC  5  Ryerson 2    stats

The Paladins kept pace with the second place Queens Golden Gaels with a 5-2 win over the Ryerson Rams on Friday night in Toronto.  The Paladins got a big jump start with the return of
Tyler Mctavish (Lomdon,ON/St. Thomas Jr Stars) to the line up.  Mctavish had missed the last 6 game due to an injury and brings back heart and soul to the line up.  The win bring RMC to a 5-10-1 record and starts the second half of the season on a positive note and comes on the heals of a 5-3 win over the Carelton Ravens on Tuesday night in exhibition play.

The Paladins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and held on despite being out shot 31-29 on the evening. 
Paul Bradley (Calgary,AB/Canmore Eagles) opened the scoring at 1:47 on the power play and three minutes later extended the lead to 2-0 with his second goal of the game.  Greg McDonald (Ottawa,On/South Ottawa Jr B) made it 3-0 with a power play goal at 15:51.  The Rams replied with their first goal a minute later to round out the scoring in the first.

In the second the Rams closed the gap to 3-2 at 12:25 of the frame.  That score stood up until early in the third when
Luke Pierce (Merritt,BC/Vernon Vipers) made it 4-2 2:15 into the third.  Tyler McTavish made an impact on his return to the line up with an empty netter at 18:45 to seal the win.

Offensively for the Paladins Bradley led the way with 2G and 2A on the night.  Luke Pierce chipped in with 1G and 1A.

Blair Robertson (Outlook,SK/Quesnell Millionaires)
got the win in net for RMC stopping 29 of 31 shots he faced.

In other OUA action the Queens Golden Gaels upset the division leading U of T Varsity Blues 2-1 on Friday night.  Despite being outshot 46-31, Queens used power play marker at 6:05 of the second to secure the win.  With the win Queens moves to 4-10-3 for 12 pts remaining in second place.
