UQTR 6  RMC 2    Stats

The Paladins dropped their fourth straight decision of the 2006-07 campaign with a 6-2 home loss to the high octane UQTR Patriotes.

A shaky first period put the Paladins in a hole they could not climb out of.  The Patriotes offense poured it on as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back.  The Patriotes opened the scoring with a power play marker just 3:24 into the period.  RMC continued to match the play at UQTR until a disastrous 5 minute stretch.  UQTR went up 2-0 at 10:38 and then made it 4-0 with two goals in 32 seconds at 15:03 and 15:35.

The Paladins woke up out of their slumber in the second out shooting the Patriotes 20-14 but they only managed to close the gap to 5-1 after 40 minutes.  The UQTR went up 5-0 2:22 into the period.
Roman Srutek (Kanata,On/Kanata Stallions) broke the shut out with a power play goal at 7:28.

In the third the teams traded goals to round out the scoring.  UQTR regained a 5 goal lead with another power play goal at 14:10 of the third. 
Paul Bradley (Calgary,AB/Canmore Eagles) rounded out the scoring with a power play goal at 19:44.

Bradley led the Paladins in scoring registering 1G and 1A for 2 Pts giving him 5G 2A for 7 pts on the season. 
Adam Brigs (Wallace,NS/Charloettown Abbies) took the loss for the Paladins in between the pipes allowing 4 goals on 5 shots in 15:35 of playing time.  Blair Robertson (Outlook,Sask/Quesnell Millionaires) came in for releife and stopped 24 of 26 shots he faced.

RMC went 2 for 4 on the power play while allowing 3 power play goals against in 5 opportunities. Overall UQTR out shot the Paladins 37-32 on the evening.

Guelph 2 RMC 0    stats
   The Paladins dropped their third game in a row with a 2-0 loss to the Guelph Gryphons.  The Gryphons scored two goals in the opening frame and that is all they needed as they managed to hold off the Paladins for the remainder of the game.
   The Gryphons got the only goal they needed at 13:08 of the first and then added an insurance marker on a two man advantage at 18:01.
   The Paladins pressured the Gryphons in the second outshooting them 16-9 but they could not solve the Gryphons goaltending.
  
Adam Briggs (Wallace,NS/Charlottetown Abbies) took the  loss for the Paladins stopping 33 of 35 shots while RMC could not capitalize on their 35 shots on the Guelph net.
   The Paladins killed 9 of 10 short handed situations while going 0 for 9 on their own power play.
   In other OUA Mid East division weekend action division leading University of Toronto Blues remained on top despite dropping their two games 2-0 against York and 7-3 against Brock.  The Queens Golden Gaels moved into a tie for second with a OT loss Guelph and a 5-4 loss to Laurier.  The winless, but much improved Ryerson Rams remain winless under new head coach Grahame Wise losing 3-1 against York despite only icing a roster of 15 players.
   Up next for RMC is a pair of Quebec schools as they host the UQTR Patriotes (2-1, 5-3 overall) on Friday 27 Oct at 1930 hrs at Constantine Arena.  The next day, Sat 28 Oct at 1930 they host the Concordia Stingers (0-3, 0-6 overall)

Laurier 6  RMC 3    stats
   In a game where the Paladins faced former Head Coach Kelly Nobes for the first time after he moved to Laurier after leading RMC to the playoffs for five straight years, they could not beat their former bench boss as they dropped a 6-3 decision.
   Both teams battled hard in the opening 20 minutes trading opportunities at each end of the ice but it was the Golden Hawks who left the frame leading 1-0. The Paladins were let down in the second period as they were out shot 17-6 in the frame and staked the Golden Hawks to a 5-0 lead until Jarret Simons (Halifax/NS) put the Paladins on the board at 19:48.
   The Paladins came back in the third but it was too little too late to overcome the deficit. 
Paul Bradley (Calgary,AB/Canmore Eagles) made it 5-2 with a power play goal at 3:36 and then he notched his second power play goal at 7:35 to round out the scoring.
   The Paladins were led offensively by
Matt Fetzner (Royston,BC/Weyburn Redwings) who collected 3A for 3 Pts and Paul Bradley who had 2G for 2 Points. Blair Robertson (Outlook,Sk/Qusnell Millionaires) took the loss as he allowed 5 goals on 30 shots in 23 minutes of action.  Adam Briggs (Wallace, NS/ Charlottetown Abblies) relieved Robertson at the 15 minute mark of the second and allowed 1 goal on 16 shots.
   The Paladins notched two power play markers goin 2 for 12 but for the second straight game allowed a short handed goal.  They also gave up two power play goals while killing 10 other short handed situations.
