RMC 4 Queens 4 stats

The RMC Paladins let a chance slip away to restore their six point lead in the OUA Mid East Division as they had to settle for a 4-4 tie with the Queens Golden Gaels in the second of a home and home series on Wednesday night at Queens Jock Harty Arena.
The Paladins came out firing on all cylinders in an attempt to atone for their 1-0 loss at home last Saturday against the Golden Gaels as they Jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead in the first period on three power play goals.  Despite dominating play in the first half they could not bury the Golden Gaels as Queens netminder Matt Kenny mad several key saves to allow the Gaels to come back and tie the game.
RMC opened the scoring at 4:57 of the first on the powerplay when
Dion Lahoda (Kamloops, BC/Merritt Centennials) notched his first of two goals from Nick Cregan (Ottawa, On/Cumberland Grads) and Paul Bradley (Calgary, AB/Canmore Eagles). Four minutes later the power play connected again as Cregan scored from Lahoda and Brent Maurice (Alymer, PQ/Shawville Pontiacs).  Paul Bradley then extended the lead to 3-0 at 13:25 and Lahoda finished the scoring in the first with his second power play goal at 18:24.
In the second Queens took advantage of a late penalty call in the first as they broke
Blair Robertsons (Outlook, SK/Quesnel Millionaires) shut out bid fifty-five seconds into the period.  Queens then halved the lead with another power play goal at 6:48.  After a shaky first Matt Kenny shut the door on RMC shooters.
The Gaels closed the game to 4-3 at 5:16 of the third and then tied the game at 8:51.  Neither team could net the winner in regulation or the five minutes of overtime.  In the last half of the third RMC had a glorious opportunity with a one minute 5 on 3 opportunity but could not convert. In the OT frame Queens had the lone power play but could not score.
RMC outshot Queens 35-29 in the game and went 3 for 9 on the power play while allowing three power play goals in 5 short handed situations.
With the tie RMC remains 4 points up on Queens in the race for first.

In a key interdivisional match up to open the second half of the season the Paladins dropped a 1-0 division to their cross-town rivals and second place Queens Golden Gales in front of nearly 500 fans on Saturday night.

Neither team could get anything going on the power as RMC was 0 for 5 and Queens was 0 for 4.

RMC 3 UQTR 2    stats
The RMC Paladins finished off the first half of the OUA season with a huge 3-2 come from behind victory over the UQTR Patriotes on Friday night in Kingston.  This game marked the first time this season that
Blair Robertson (Outlook, Sk/Quesnel Millionaires) did not start.  Last time these two teams met, Robertson let in 4 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game in Three Rivers.  Starting instead was Matt Hartney (Burnaby, BC/Univesity of Saskatchewan) who had an outstanding performance stopping 58 of 60 shots fired at him.
RMC survived a first period onslaught from UQTR as the visitors out shot the Paladins 20-5, but could not solve Hartney.  Hartney finally relented at 5:51 of the second when UQTR took a 1-0 lead.  That lead held up until 15:44 when
Luke Pierce (Merritt, BC/ Vernon Vipers) evened the game.  UQTR then took a 2-1 lead into the intermission with a power play goal at  16:59.
It did not take long into the third for RMC to even things up again as the power play struck with a
Brent Maurice (Alymer, PQ/Shawville Pontiacs) blast.  RMC then got the game winner of the stick of Dion Lahoda (Kamloops, BC/Merritt Centennials) at 10:06 of the third.  The Paladins then held on as they played four of the last five minutes shorthanded.
For the night RMC was out shot 60-28 but went 2 for 5 on the power play while killing 5 of 6 short handed situations.  Besides Hartneys stellar play between the pipes, RMC was led by both Luke Pierce and Dion Lahoda who each had 1G and 1A. while
Roman Sturtek (Kanata, On/Kanata Stallions) chipped in with 2A.
The win leaves RMC with a 5-6-4 record good for 14 points and first place in the OUA Mid East Division 6 points up on second place Queens who dropped a 4-2 decision to Concordia on Saturday.  RMC now focuses on the second half which they play their division foes Queens, U of T and Ryerson a combined 7 times in Jan/Feb as they drive for the first place finish in their division to head for the playoffs.
