RMC 3  Lakehead 3    stats      Lakehead Press Release

The RMC Paladins managed a tie in the second game against Lakehead thanks to a stellar performance from
Blair Roberstson (Outlook, Sk/Quesnel Millionaires) who stopped 50 of 53 shots.  The tie marks the first points RMC has earn against Lakehead, since the Thunderwolves joined the OUA four years ago.  RMC is 0-5-1 against the Thunder Bay squad.

The opening minute set the tone for the evening as RMC got a power play opportunity 20 seconds into the game but could not notch a goal and then the Thunderwolves dominated the period as Lakehead took the play to RMC out shooting them 18-6 for the period but could not notch a goal.  The teams entered the second period scoreless.

Lakehead opened the scoring 1:58 into the second frame just after a penalty to RMC expired.  RMC tied the game at 12:02 when
Paul Bradley (Calgary, Ab/Canmore Eagles) scored a short handed marker from Matt Fetzner (Royston, BC/Weyburn Red Wings) and Jamie Routledge (Calgary, Ab/Nelson Leafs).  RMC then extended their lead with a power play goal from Roman Srutek (Kanata, On/Kanata Stallions) with assists from Nick Cregan (Ottawa, On/Cumberland Grads) and Bradley.

In the third RMC extended the lead to 3-1 with their second shorthanded goal of the game off the stick of Matt Milberry (Kingston, NS/Brockville Braves) at 7:22.  A minute and a half later Lakehead cut the deficit to 3-2 and then tied the game at 10:27 of the period.

Neither team could net the winner and RMC survived a penalty in the last two minutes of the third and another call 48 seconds into the overtime period. 

RMC was 1 for 6 on the power play and killed all eight man disadvantages.  RMC was led offensively by Bradley with 1 G and 1 A on the evening.

In other OUA action Queen�s defeated Windsor for the second time 6-5 to cut RMC�s lead to 3 points in the division.  The Golden Gales currently sit at 4-7-0.  The Ryerson Rams picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 tie with Waterloo, while the U of T remains winless after a 5-2 loss against Western.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves handed RMC their first two game losing streak after a 3-1 victory on Friday night in Kingston.  In the first period the game looked like it might be a repeat of the last time these two teams met in 2003, a 12-2 Lakehead win, when the Thunderwolves dominated RMC out shoting them 14-7 and jumping out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a power play goal at 7:32 and two goal with in a minute in the last five of the period.
  The Paladins however did not fold as they came out in the second and matched Lakehead turn for turn as the teams combined for 31 shots on net but neither could find the back of the twine as
Blair Robertson (Outlook, Sk/Quesnel Millionaires) and Thunderwolves Chris Whitley shone between the pipes.
  In the third RMC took it to the Thunderwolves out shooting them 13-6 in the frame.  They started to mount their come back when
Dion Lahoda (Kamloops, BC/Merrit Centennials) notched a power play marker at 4:02 with assists from Tyler McTavish (London, On/St Thomas Stars) and Brent Maurice (Alymer, PQ/Shawville Pontiacs).  The Thunderwolves however, were able to defend their two goal lead even when RMC put out the extra attacker for the last 1:30 of the period.
  For the evening RMC was 1 for 7 with the man advantage while killing 4 of 5 penalties.  The loss evens RMCs record at 4-4-2 for 10 points, four points up on Queen�s who beat Windsor 3-2, while both Ryerson and the U of T lost.  RMC hosts the Thunderwolves again Saturday at 7:30 pm EST.

McGill 3 RMC 0    stats

The #5 ranked McGill Redmen continued to show that they are a team to beat in the OUA as they defeated RMC 3-0 on Saturday night. The Redmen out shot RMC 44-18 in the game.  The game was McGills fifth shut out of the year and they have only allowed 3 goals in six games.
  RMC managed to keep it close in the first in a tight checking affair but McGill notched the only goal at the 7:52 mark of the period.
  In the second
Blair Robertson (Outlook, SK/Quesnel Millionaires) kept RMC in the game as he stopped all 21 shots he faced in the period to keep it 1-0.
  In the third McGill Continued to pressure and they stretched their lead to 2-0 at 8:32 and then sealed the game with a power play goal at 17:02.
  Even with the loss RMC keeps their current lead in the division as all three other Division teams lost.
