RMC 11 Guelph 4 stats RMC Game Report Kingston Whig Article The Paladins exploded for a near school record offensive output in a 11-4 thumping of the Guelph Gryphons Saturday night. The 11 goal output was the most for the Paladins since a 13-4 defeat of the Ryerson Rams during the 1995-96 season. The Paladins jumped out to a commanding 5-1 lead in the first period and never look back as they completely dominated the Gryphons. RMC fired 19 shots on net in the first as coach Kelly Nobes had his charges fired up for the game. Dion Lahoda (Kamloops, BC/Merrit Centennials) notched his first goal of the game on the power play just 1:32 into the game. Captain Pat McDonald (Calgary,AB/Olds Grizzlys) then made it a 2-0 game on his first goal of the season. After Guelph came to within one, RMC exploded for three power play goals in just over three minutes. Brent Maurice (Alymer, PQ/Shawville Pontiacs) made it 3-1 and then Lahoda scored his second and third goals of the game to round out the first. In the second Roman Srutek (Kanata, On/Kanata Stallions) stretched the lead with an unassisted marker at 4:06 to make it 6-1. Guelph cut the lead in half with two goals in just over a minute before RMC regained the five goal lead when Maurice notched his second power play goal and Srutek added another unassisted goal to close out the period. Again in the third RMC dominated with Tyler McTavish (London,On/St Thomas Stars) scored 1:16 into the frame and two minutes later Josh Fudge (Nepean, On/Nepean Raiders) notched his first of the season to make it 10-3. Nick Cregan (Ottawa, On/Cumberland Grads) closed out the scoring in the game with four minutes left. For the game RMC out shot Guleph 49-30. Offensively the Paladins were led by Dion Lahoda (3G, 2A) and Brent Maurice (2G,2A) and Paul Bradley (4A) . The RMC power play finally clicked as it went 5 for 7 on the evening and was espically effective in the last half of the first when they managed to pull away. RMC killed 5 of 6 short handed situations. With the win RMC moves to a 2-1-2 record for 6 points and sitting atop the Mid East Division four points up on second place Queen�s who earned a 3-2 OT win against Laurier. Both Toronto and Ryerson remain winless in the Division. 28 Oct RMC 3 Laurier 3 stats The Paladins remain undefeated at home after a 3-3 tie with the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday night. In front of a supportive home crowd of 250, RMC had their best offensive night of the season with the three goals, while the defense again proved solid holding the highflying Hawks to only three goals. RMC took a commanding 2-0 in the first period out shooting Laurier 17-11 in the frame. Adam Purdy (Stitsville, ON/ Kanata Stallions) scored his first CIS goal at 6:48 to open the scoring. Josh Fudge (Nepean, ON/Nepean Raiders) made it 2-0 at 14:09 with assists from Tyler McTavish (London,On/St Thomas Stars) and Nick Cregan (Ottawa, On/Cumberland Grads). The second period was a seesaw battle as both teams traded goals. Laurier cut the lead in half with a marker just before the halfway mark of the period but McTavish restored the two goal lead at 15:20 getting his first goal of the season. In the third the Hawks came out flying dominating the Paladins out shooting them 18-11. Laurier got to with in one with a power play goal at 7:30 of the period and then continued to press for the tying goal. With under a minute left to play Laurier finally broke through to pull even and send the game into overtime. In the extra period both teams had two shots on goal but could not get the game winner. The Paladins power play continued to struggle as they went 0-8 on the night including 2 5 on 3-man advantages. The penalty kill continued its hot hand killing three of four short-handed situations. On the evening Laurier out shot RMC 43-42. Tyler McTavish (1G, 1A) and Dion Lahoda (Kamloops, BC/Merritt Centennials) (2A) led the Paladins in scoring. Lahoda leads the team with 5 points. All other teams in the Mid East Division remain winless with the U of T losing 5-2 against Brock, Guleph beating Queens 5-3 and Ryerson losing 4-2 against York. RMC sits atop the Division with a 1-1-2 record for 4 points. |
