RMC 2 Manhattanville 1 stats Manhattanville Press Release In a penalty filled affair owing mostly to different NCAA rules the Paladins overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Manhattanville Valiants 2-1 just outside New York City on Saturday afternoon. Veteran Blair Roberston (Outlook, Sk/ Quesnel Millionaries) got the start for RMC and was the difference as he held the Paladins in the game for the first 40 minutes where RMC was out shot 28-9. The two teams battled evenly for the first 20 minutes but could not net a goal despite numerous power play chances by both sides as they went to the dressing room tied at zero. In the second period it was all Manhattanville as they out shot RMC 15-2, but the veteran Roberstson made several key saves to keep RMC in the game. The Paladins took advantage of their limited scoring opportunities as rookie Paul Bradley (Calgary, AB/Camrose Kodiaks) netted an unassisted power play goal at 16:52. The Paladins went into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead. The third period was a wide-open affair with end to end action. The period saw a total of 32 shots on net by both teams. Manhattanville opened the scoring at 3:55 to even the score at 1. The game looked like it might head into overtime until Bradley notched his second unassisted goal of the game. The Valiants pulled their goalie for the final 1:06 to try to even the score but Robertson closed the door. Despite being outshot, head coach Kelly Nobes was happy with his teams performance as the penalty kill went 7 for 7, while the power play managed one goal in nine opportunities.
