| 27 Nov Western 5 RMC 1 stats The Paladins opend up strong but could not hold of the number 4 ranked Western Mustangs on Saturday night in a 5-1 loss. RMC opened the game with a goal 25 seconds into the first as Roman Srutek got them on the board with assists from Pat McDonald and Tyler McTavis. Western managed to tie the game at 16:15 of the first. The second period was an even affair, however it was only Western who could manage a goal to increase thier lead to 2-1 at the end of two periods. The third period saw both team pick up the pace but Western pulled away with three goals in the period. Western made it 3-1 only 30 seconds into the period and then seald the victory 5 minutes in with a 4 on 4 goal. RMC was outshot 31-24 in the match and was stymied on several chances by the Western goaltender. 21 Nov Windsor 6 RMC 2 stats official RMC Press Release For the second game in a row RMC could not establish any offensive momentum against a big physical Windsor team as they dropped a 6-2 decision at home. Both teams looked shaky in the first 10 minutes with neither side able to keep any sustained pressure. Windsor opened the scoring at 8:02 when they took advantage of a loose puck inside the RMC zone and fired a blast past Blair Robertson who had no chance. Windsor then jumped to a 2-0 lead with a power play goal at 10:45 when a Windsor forward walked out of the corner uncontested. RMC closed the gap to with in one on a beautiful power play goal of their own. Nick Creagan poked the puck out of the RMC zone an led an end to end rush past two Windsor defensemen turning one inside out at the Windsor blue line. Creagan managed to get the shot on goal and Tyler McTavish was there to bury the rebound. The perod closed with RMC down 2-1. RMC got off to a slow start in the second period as they allowed Windsor to pick up a loose puck in the RMC zone and to restore their two goal lead at 3:39. RMC closed the gap to within one again seven seconds into a power play. Louis Charland pick up a rebound off a Nick Cregan point shot and put the puck into the yawning net. Windsor again established a two goal lead on a shorthanded breakaway where Robertson made the first save but was unable to stop the rebound. RMC started the third short handed and managed to kill off the penalty but they could not garner any sustained pressure to close the gap. Windsor took advantage of RMC not being able to clear their zone at the 9:51 mark as they went up 5-3. With 2:05 to go in the game RMC looked like they had closed the gap again but they goal was disallowed as the referee ruled the puck was knocked in with a high stick. Windsor then sealed the game with 15 seconds to go scoring a 5 on 3 power play goal. RMC looks to rebound after this weekend as they try to keep hold on first place in the OUA Mid East division. With Queens� losing twice this weekend and Toronto splitting their games RMC remains 1 point up on Toronto and 2 points up on Queens. 20 Nov Windsor 6 RMC 3 stats RMC dropped their second straight game in a disappointing 6-3 loss against the Windsor Lancers in the first game of a double header on Saturday afternoon. The game started off with Windsor scoring a fluke goal at the 2:39 mark of the first period. The Windsor forward was behind the goal line in the corner and banked a shot off an unsuspecting Blair Robertson to go up 1-0. RMC tied the game shortly after that. After a hard forecheck Tyler Middlebrook picked up a loose puck and banked in a shot at 4:04 to tie the game. RMC then took the lead at 9:11 as Pat McDonald scored on a rebound after some good cycling down low. Windsor managed to tie the game back up after RMC was whistled on a questionable call to give Windsor a 5 on 3 man advantage. The Windsor point shot was deflected off an RMC defenseman�s stick and past Robertson. The first period was an evenly played physical period by both teams. The second period saw both teams unable to establish any dominance in play or sustained pressure. The physical play continued and showed in the penalty stats. RMC went up a goal at 11:13 as Louis Charland picked up a loose puck and wrested a shot into the top corner from the face-off circle. However, Windsor managed to tie the game up again when the referee missed a high-sticking call resulting leaving RMC down a man in their own zone. With the advantage of the injured RMC player Windsor put in a rebound. In the third the physical play was turned up a notch as the referee let the players go. Windsor with their larger line up took the body to RMC and managed to score 3 goals in three minutes to put the game out of reach. With many non-calls both teams were frustrated and took it out on each other which will lead to an interesting second game on Sunday at 1400. |
