Queens 7 RMC 1     stats

The season ended on Friday night for the Paladins on a sour note as they were trounced 7-1 at home by Queens.  The win gives Queens a 2-0 sweep of the OUA Mid East Semi Final.  After the close scare on Wednesday night Queens came out determined to put away the pesky RMC squad in the playoffs.  Ryan Poll led the Golden Gaels with a hat trick as Queens out shot RMC 40-16.  Queens was determined from the start not to let the Paladins into the series as they dominated from the opening face-off to sweep RMC for the second straight year.  RMC�s lone goal was a power play marker by Adrain Hartley as RMC went 1 for 4 on the power play while Queens connected on 3 of six man advantages.  Queens now goes on to face the U of T in the division final while RMC will start the rebuilding program for next year.

In a closely fought opening game of the OUA Mid East Division Semi-Final Queens jumped out to a 1-0 series lead with a 2-1 win over RMC on Wednesday night. Queens used a mental lapse from RMC to net two goals in 18 seconds in the second period to get the lead and never looked back.  After a scoreless first period, Queens got goals from Ryan Poll and Brian Moore at the 16:03 and 16:21 mark of the second period for the lead and then held off a determined RMC attack.   Jessi Bruni halved the lead at 17:10 of the third period on a goal from Matthew Maurice and Tyler McTavish, but RMC could not get another puck past Queens net minder Matt Kenney. Despite out shooting Queens 32-28 RMC could not get the equalizer even with net minder Blair Robertson on the bench for an extra attacker in the last minute and a half.  Both teams were successful on the penalty kill as RMC killed off 3 short-handed situations while Queens killed all five of their penalties.

RMC 5 Ryerson 1    stats

RMC clinched their third straight playoff berth in the OUA Mid East Division with a 5-1 win over Ryerson on Sunday afternoon.  In front of a boisterous home crowd the Paladins played the must win game to perfection.  Mathew Maruice who netted a hat trick including the game-winning goal led the Paladins.  Maurice had 2 power play goals as RMC was 5 for 9 on the power play while killing of 5 of 6 short handed situations.  Blair Robertson stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced while the Paladins put 39 shots towards the Ryerson net.  The Paladins had 10 different players collect points on the afternoon.  With the win RMC now faces Queens in the Mid East Semi-Final in a best of three series.  Last year Queens swept RMC 2-0 to nothing

U of T 7  RMC 2     stats       game summary

The Paladins dropped the second last game of the season on Friday night as they were defeated by the U of T Varsity Blues 7-2 in Toronto.  RMC had goals from Tyler McTavish and Jordan Woodman as the Blues outshot them 53-33.  Blair Robertson was in net for the Paladins making 44 saves on the night.  The Paladins were 0 for 6 on the power play while Toronto netted one power play goal in 6 chances.  The win assures U of T a first round bye in the playoffs and force RMC into a must win game against Ryerson on Sunday.  If RMC gets a win or a tie against Ryerson they will make the playoffs for the third year in a row and the second year in a row against Queens.
