Milestone anniversaries are special events, and last nights 75th meeting between the RMC Paladins and the Army Black Knights was no different as the two teams battled for national bragging rights in front of 3100 partisan fans at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
Nick Cregan (Ottawa,On/Cumberland Grads) capped a two goal come back with 31 seconds left in the game to notch a 3-3 tie.

RMC and Army came out to the thunderous roar of 3100 fans, a large majority of them RMC Cadets in their Red Scarlets and battled in the first period.  Army opened the scoring at 4:51 when Jeff fearing beat
Blair Robertson (Outlook,Sk/Quesnel Millionaires) to give Army a 1-0 lead.  Adam Purdy (Stittsville, On/Kanata Stallions) tied the score at 8:09 with assists from Cregan and Josh Fudge (Nepean,On/Nepean Raiders).  The game looked to be tied going into the first intermission but Bryce Hollweg gave Army a 2-1 lead with a slap shop from the point at 19:57 of the first.

Army then jumped to a 3-1 lead at 3:31 after just finishing a 4-4 situations, when Casey Bickley notched a power play goal.  The Paladins had several opportunities to fight back in the second as they had 4 power play opportunities to close the gap but they could not beat Brad Roberts despite firing 11 shots at the Army netminder.

The two goal deficit remained until 6:12 of the third when speedy
Tyler McTavish (London,On/St Thomas Stars) cut the lead to 3-2 on 4 on 4 play.  Roman Srutek (Kanata,On/Kanata Stallions) and Brent Maurice (Aylmer,PQ/Shawevill Pointiacs) assisted on the goal.  That lifted the Paladins and the crowd.  With Robertson stopping all 13 shots he faced in the period and sitting on the bench, the Paladins crashed the net and it paid off as Nick Cregan banged in a rebound with 31 seconds left to send the crowd into a frenzy and tie the game.

The five minute overtime could not solve anything as the teams settled for the 3-3 tie.

On the evening Army out shot RMC 31-24.  On the power play RMC was 0 for 6 while Army was 1 for 2.

With the tie the series now stands at 39-29-7 in favour of West Point.
