Mehmet K. Benli is notable as the main publisher of horror comics in Turkey. Benli took over Korku Magazin, a comics magazine started in 1967 and publishing material from American Creepy and Eerie comics, in early 1968. Korku Magazin continued in weekly format until 1970 with 143 issues. It got a restart in 1971 in monthly format, titled simply as Korku. In 1976, Benli also began publishing Vampirella, initially on a weekly, then on a monthly basis. The magazines ended around 1977/78. Benli was also the editor of Jungla (1973), put out by another publisher. |
