Time to
reveal the best kept secret in Finnish indie music, The Rollstons.
Rhythm Barrel Records are proud to present the band's debut
on vinyl, an untitled 7" EP with four new previously unreleased
tracks. For eventhough this is their debut on vinyl, they have
two self-released, successful and highly acclaimed CDr albums
under their belt (Doin' Time 2001 and Earth Against World 2002).
This shows the band's ultimate DIY attitude which, along with
superb songwriting and extraordinary sense of style, has separated
and will separate them from the grey mass of average lo-fi/indie
pop bands.
The Rollstons'
musical references may include, among others, The Velvet Underground,
The Pixies, Swedish quirksters bob hund and veteran cult favourites
such as Pavement and Guided By Voices - yet their brand of crooked,
mildly psychedelic and slightly absurd indie pop is a brand
of their very own. The Rollstons' songs range from acoustic
little ditties through weird intsrumentals and garagey rock
numbers to beautiful, melodic pop tunes. With twists and turns.
This EP,
recorded and produced by the band themselves, of course, shows
the different sides of the band and hopefully makes you smile.
It is a nice little vinyl full of interesting sounds and bizarre
wordings. Take it and cherish it.
