After viewing the Rocky Horror Picture show performed at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire afterhours, I must say I felt it was somewhat lacking.
I admit I arrived a bit late, but I caught the usual Pre-Rocky show of De-Virginizing the virgins with the help of Mistress Demonico and Diaper Boy, played respectively by Shanaar and Kevin. The Pre-show was obviously an old hat to the actors, but what was performed after the lips appeared on a large screen was something less than old hat.
It was obvious to the observer that the cast had rehearsed the show, perhaps several times, because most everything was 'on-cue' and somewhat stuffy. The only salt to this bland stew were the veteran performers.
I am a bit ashamed to say that I would have expected better from people that pull the wool over customer eyes every Saturday and Sunday, only to find that it fell disappointingly short of expectation.
Even my unborn child seemed to disagree with the show, as she started abusing my tummy. As I've told a few people already, the Montclair, Ca. cast Friday was ultimately better than the cast that performed Saturday, June 17, 2000.
And that is my take, and at best, a Rocky review...
