Fiction Writing Classes
Offered by Gail Eastwood
Each class will focus on a key technique for creating
vibrant stories, and will include discussion, in-class
exercises and guided critique of pages from students�
own works-in-progress. You may sign up for
individual classes, but SIGN UP BY the Thursday
before the class or it might be cancelled.

Sept 17: Show, Don�t Tell. Learn multiple ways to
pull your readers right into the story to feel the
experience, a must for today�s fiction.
Sept 24: Dialogue. Learn how to �design a voice� for
each of your characters, how to handle the ir internal
�thought dialogue� and much more.
Oct 8: Point of View. Master one of the most
important tools in a writer�s toolbox, that affects
characterization, emotional impact, story tension and
a host of other aspects of your story.
Oct. 22: Story Structure. How to make sure your
middle isn�t muddled and so much more.
Oct. 29: Voice. It�s what editors look for and what
makes your writing as uniquely yours as your
thumbprint.
Nov 5: Anatomy of a Best Seller. Analyze how
your favorite authors use techniques for success!
Nov 12: Guided Critique. guided constructive
group feedback emphasizi ng these techniques.
 
So You Want to Write
Offered by Liz Boardman
This class is designed for people who want to write,
but aren�t sure how to get started. In a supportive
environment, you will work on short exercises, and
learn techniques to help you banish the inner critic
and get words on the page. Both fiction and nonfiction
writers are welcome.

Writing for Magazines
Offered by Liz Boardman
Magazines buy thousands of shorts and articles each
year. Learn the basics about what they want and how
to write it. Through discussion and exercises, the
course will cover finding ideas and angles, targeting
an audience, basic reporting skills, and short and
mid-length article structure.

Meet the Press
Offered by Liz Boardman
Your PTO, non-profit, or small business has a story to
tell -- but how do you alert the media? In this class,
you�ll learn how to write a press release, what the
local media can and cannot do for you, and other tips
for successfully getting press coverage.
