U.S. Marshals (1998)
CAST: Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr.
DIRECTOR: Stuart Baird
MPAA RATING: PG-13
RUNNING TIME: 123 Minutes
STUDIO: Warner Brothers

This spinoff to The Fugitive has Wesley Snipes as the man on the run. Tommy Lee Jones is back again as the no-nonsense, rough and tough U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard. His character is as gutty and as stubborn as ever. His team is back again to track down the more action-oriented Snipes, instead of the smart, keen Harrison Ford.

This film is more fire powered and less dramatic than its predecessor. The action scenes are more detailed with much more action. The swamp chase, the cemetery standoff, and the exciting airplane scene are far more sharper and crisper than The Fugitive's train reck, etc. What isn't as sharp in the movie is the fugitive himself. This movie draws more attention to the chasers instead of the one being chased, guess that's why they called it U.S. Marshals.

In The Fugitive, it made you elude the police and hide out with Harrison Ford. In this go-around, you could care less about Snipe's character because he isn't as defined as Ford's was. You focus in on the sequel's action and explosions as opposed to the original's acting and adventure. Nevertheless, this film is worth watching, even though they drag Robert Downey, Jr into the mix. Try not to think this is a sequel, because it's not. It's an action film that simply borrows bits and pieces from The Fugitive.
