Thunderstorms and snowstorms are bad, but tornadoes...well, they're really bad. Not only are tornadoes extremely violent, but the ability to know how one operates is almost a complete mystery.

Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton have built a machine that they believe will change that mystery. With it, they hope to develop an advanced warning system, which will give people more than 3 minutes to prepare for the disasterious whirlwinds.

Jan De Bont, who's directorial debut was the smash-hit SPEED, returns with more intense-driven action. His pacing is almost as fast as Michael Bay's, but Bay is still the king of neck-breaking sequences. TWISTER is a big thrill ride that keeps you glued to the seat.

The special effects are the star of the film. The tornadoes are life-like, as is the destruction they cause. From the flying cow, to the 15,000-pound gasoline tanker, TWISTER sports tons of implausibility, but that didn't keep it from being one of the top grossing films of 1996.

Good chemistry between Hunt and Paxton keep the movie interesting during the non-action sequences. A fun-filled adventure with spectacular special effects.
