| John Carpenter's remake of The Thing is very difficult to stomach. Add to the fact that the monster in this film is down right terrorizing, along with the terrific special effects. I don't believe I've seen a monster that is more disgusting than this creature. Also, when John Carpenter really wants to scare the daylights out of you, he will do it. Halloween spells this out in thousands of ways. The most interesting part about the movie may be the unlucky crew. A young Kurt Russell heads up a group of scientists in an Anartic outpost who will soon discover their worst nightmare, an alien spaceship. And when they finally figure out what's going on, they have that look of pure terror in their eyes. And it's very believable. The Thing was not well accepted when it first opened, but over the years it has gradually become a cult classic, even if it does give you nightmares for a month. |
