Bizarre and mind-boggling, 2001: A Space Odyssey reached a new level in movie making. The film is 30 years old, but the special effects are still remarkable and the music is also top notch. Many people found this movie very confusing while others thought it was showing what the future may come to in regards to computers and other equipment. The story is told almost non-verbally, with music playing most of the time.
As far as plot goes, a voyage to Jupiter is the main point. The other part of the plot involves HAL-9000, the computer that is on board the spacecraft. He decides to take over the ship and kills all except one of the crewmen. Aside from those 2 factors, I could guess for months about the rest of the story. I would love to hear director Stanley Kubricks interpretation of this film; it is the most confusing movie of all-time.
