Sunset Boulevard (1950)
CAST: William Holden, Gloria Swanson, Erich von Stroheim
DIRECTOR: Billy Wilder
MPAA RATING: NR
RUNNING TIME: 100 Minutes
STUDIO: Paramount

William Holden is a struggling Hollywood writer who is finding it difficult to get work. When he's chased by creditors, he finds a large, seemingly abandoned house to lay low for a few days. He had no idea it was the home of a former famous movie star of the silent picture days. Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) hires Holden to help her jumpstart her comeback.

Exceptional storytelling by director Wilder is a pleasant welcome to the audience. Sharp, witty script combined with geniune performances by Holden and Swanson only add to the movie's prestige. Swanson stands out above the rest with a dazzling performance. Her take on Norma Desmond is not only entertaining, but at times, it's downright chilling.

Terrific movie in every way, especially the script. Filled with originality and greatness, Billy Wilder's wonderful story was nominated for 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. A must see classic.
