The MPAA, Motion Picture Association of America, has guidelines for rating movies. Among the items they use to determine ratings are sexual content, strong language, and violence. SOUTH PARK creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have basically ripped those guidelines to shreds and made their own. The official title, SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT might very well be the most vulgar movie in the history of cinema. And it comes from the little mouths of Stan, Kenny, Kyle, Cartman, and every other cardboard cutout you can think of in the series.

Being a fan of the TV series and knowing what the boys' vocabulary was on cable, I knew going in what it was going to be like. After the boys enter the new Terrence & Philip movie "Asses on Fire", their vocabulary expanded by about 10 words. These South Park kiddies make the cable version look like the Brady Bunch. I don't believe I have ever seen so much harsh language in a movie, but that made the movie very funny. Aside from probably offending about a gazillion different types of people, the movie is also one of the funniest I have ever seen.

The basic premise is that the US wages a war with Canada after the South Park parents find out what their kids have learned from those crazy Canadian kids Terrence & Philip. What we get are shots at Canada throughout the movie. There's plenty of "about" references, which are very funny. Also, you can hear a stab at Celine Dion, hockey, and even Bryan Adams. Yes, that's right, not even Bryan Adams can escape the clutches of the South Park clan. There's even a jab at the MPAA.

SOUTH PARK is also a very smart cartoon. Unlike Beavis and Butthead, who were bent on stupidity, SOUTH PARK takes a very competent turn at comedy. Now that Beavis and Butthead are long since retired, let's hope that the little youngsters will live on for a bit longer.

There are more songs that you might think. Around 15 or so. And most of them are very, very funny. The Mr. Mackey song "It's Easy MMMkay" is hysterical and may be the funniest of them all. Also, Big Gay Al's turn at the mic is also a big hoot. The overuse of songs may be the only drawback from this movie. And it is a microscopic drawback.. With the number of jokes in this movie, you will have to see a second viewing to catch the ones you missed in the first one. After a couple of scenes, I had so many tears in my eyes that I missed the first few seconds of the next seen.

Yes, SOUTH PARK is a cartoon, and no, it is not for kids to watch at all. This is one cartoon that they should definitely stay away from! I'm still amazed that the rating was only R. Had it been a movie with humans in it, this would've gotten a big fat NC-17. Matt Stone and Trey Parker's popular series has dropped a bit in terms of popularity and ratings this year, but this new movie they have just released will revive what is one of the funniest cartoons ever.
