Brian De Palma is responsible for this semi-thriller, but you sure wouldn't believe this movie came from him. Easily not his best work, De Palma teases us with a terrific opening scene, only to dash our hopes with a flimsy, weak ending.
Nicolas Cage keeps this movie on an average level. You take him out of the picture, and this movie gets a flat 1 star. His performance is very energetic. Sinise is pretty stable as the other star, but Cage is the only thing to see in this film. The opening shot is very good. Nice direction from Brian, but it fails to keep the suspense afloat after the beginning. There's not too much action in the film, even though it's considered an action-thriller. Another movie that "could" have been very entertaining. |
