| Billy Bob Thornton won an Oscar for writing this marvelous story of a mentally retarded man who's finally been released from a mental institute. He returns to his home town after 25 years and tries to fit in. This was Thornton's starting point of his career. His character is uniquely created. You begin to root for him throughout the picture and hope that he comes out on the right end of the stick. The ending is powerful, yet maybe a little shocking. |
