Shy People (1987)
CAST: Jill Clayburth, Barbara Hershey, Martha Pimpton
DIRECTOR: Andrei Konchalovsky
MPAA RATING: R
RUNNING TIME: 119 Minutes
STUDIO: Warner Brothers

Sub-culture story about a New York magazine writer and her spoiled daughter who visits their lost relatives in Louisiana. They spend a few days with the relatives as part of a story for the "Cosmopolitan". The film sends a good message about how sub-culture's can clash. Pitting high class New Yorkers in the swampy likes of Louisiana is a solid point. Barbara Hershey stands out as the mother of the family in Louisiana. Filled with plenty of profanity and lots of violence, Shy People gets its point across.
