Saving Private Ryan is the best movie of 1998. Shakespeare in Love is the second best movie of 1998. This movie is the perfect romantic comedy. Everything about the film is excellent. This movie benefits the most by the fine performances of Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes, and Geoffrey Rush. The very powerful script takes charge the second the film begins. It is precisely written. The comedy in the movie brings it into a whole new dimension. It surprisingly had numerous parts of comedy. Director John Madden brings all of these things together with great passion.
Paltrow is absolutely amazing as the female lead. Her performance will undoubtedly net her an Oscar nomination, but it will almost certainly reward her with a victory. She is the reason to see this film, hands down. Don't overlook Fiennes as the young Shakespeare. His onscreen time with Paltrow helps the movie flow freely, but his comedy might have been the biggest surprise. And let us not forget about Geoffrey Rush. One word: hysterical. He is really fun to watch. To sum things up, this movie was made to win awards. This is the kind of film that you know is going to be terrific. Solid cast, solid script, solid direction, and solid story can only be found in a solid movie. It's definitely found here. With Paltrow and an unbelievable script, this little gem is the feel-good movie of 1998. |
