Is third time a charm? Not quite, but "Scream 3"'s strong second half is enough to call it passable entertainment. Though the story misses Kevin Williamson's witty dialogue, at least we don't have to suffer from the abundant scary movie references this time.

Sydney, who could get the "victim of the year" award every year, is now in hiding in Hollywood. Naturally, though, the killer(s) tracks her down and the whole mess starts over again.

If you've lost track, the movie within the movie is now Stab 3. One by one, the killer(s) begins to pick off the crew left and right until Sydney is the last one left.

The movie's first 30-40 minutes is extremely draggy. It plays and feels like a second sequel in some scenes. There are a few flashes of scares here and there, but it takes a while for it to get started.

Thankfully, the second half more than makes up for the shortcomings. It's exciting, violent, and yes people, it's scary.

The movie is funnier than the other 2. Parker Posey, who plays Gale Weathers in Stab 3, seems to really enjoy her role. She is quite entertaining.

You'll also find guest appearances from Jenny McCarthy, among others. And, believe it or not, there is a cameo from the dynamic duo, Jay and Silent Bob.

Nothing can top the original, as it single-handedly resurrected the horror genre. Who would have thought that "Scream" would spawn knock-offs.

"Scream 2" managed to still keep the story fresh and had enough value to distant itself from the first one. And we now have finally gotten to "Scream 3", which doesn't have an identity at all. It feels like "just another slasher flick".
