Steven Spielbergs inspired tale of the Holocaust leaves a powerful message. That message is what the Jewish Community went through during World War II. He has depicted an incredible image of grief, sorrow, pain, punishment, and righteousness. Using unique direction and with black-and-white face, Spielberg has created one of the most important stories this century. He was commended for it, as he should have, with an Oscar for Best Direction and Best Film. This film deserves every bit of praise that it received. Its still one the most talked about movies of our time.
The movie follows Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), the man responsible for saving the lives of 1100 Jews. Schindler pushed around, begged, and bribed the German Soldiers in allowing him workers to help with industry in his factory. By doing so, he helped out many Jews tremendously.
Neeson does a sensational job of acting.
Ralph Fiennes performance may be the most memorable. He plays a German soldier, Amon Goeth. Fiennes brings out the absolute worst of evil with this character. The hate for Goeth grows in the picture after you see him murder Jews left and right, as if he were at a shooting gallery. Its hard to imagine that Tommy Lee Jones received Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Fugitive, when clearly Fiennes deserved it. This was Fiennes breakthrough in the movie business.
With regards to Saving Private Ryan and Schindlers List, Steven Spielberg has sustained his place in history as the man responsible for the 2 most important movies of this time period.
