Jackie Chan is a cop from the West. Chris Tucker is a cop from the East. And together, they are involved in a search for a kidnaped girl. Chan is summoned from Hong Kong by a Chinese diplomat to help find his daughter. Tucker is assigned to keep Chan out of the investigation, but things go out of control and they take it upon themselves to find the girl.
Tucker is a full-fledged comic. Theres no doubt about it. He can turn a normal sentence into a hilarious scene with his often always loud and annoying voice. Thats his trademark, his loud, loud voice. And you hear it throughout the movie with his hysterical one-liners. Chan, who stars in his best movie by far, also dishes out some comedy, but in a more subtle manner. Rush Hour aims for fun and thats exactly what it is. The pairings of Tucker and Chan together with Chans superb fight scenes and Tuckers high-volumed wit, and you have yourself an enjoyable action/comedy flick. The movie has a very laughable scene near the end and as the credits are rolling, it shows bloopers of Chan and Tucker. Thats the funniest part. Chan has raised his action hero level up and Tucker inches closer to being the next Eddie Murphy. |
