What is the matrix? It's all around us. It is the non-reality world that all of humankind have lived in since the beginning of the 21st century. Mr. Anderson (Reeves), aka hacker Neo, is the key to helping all humans release from the matrix-based world. He is the one, according to Morpheous (Fishburne), a slick dressed, deeply mysterious individual from the real world.
The computer world is run by sunglass and suit wearing agents. You don't want to mess with these guys. No human has ever defeated them. Morpheous and his group of renegades must try and find a way to stop the matrix before their whole civilization is wiped out. And with the help of Neo, they may be successful. What makes this movie interesting is the unimaginable special effects. I've never seen visuals quite like this. They're very creative and most are original, though some of them have a "T2" type feel. It'll take at least 2 viewings to fully understand the plot. But who cares, you guys will go for the action. Though the first half is a little stagnant, the last 45-minutes is just pure out and out action. Lots of fireworks and explosions will make the audience cheer. The movie's one downside, aside from the length, is its way-too-serious dialogue. There is a bit of overacting, and most of the characters don't have much personality. I like to refer to this language as techno-babble. If you can tune that out, you should enjoy this film. |
