Zorro once was the peoples' savior and did what was necessary to stop evil. The evil in Mexico was Don Montero. Zorro (Anthony Hopkins) did everything in his power to stop him. Some 20 years later, Zorro returns to help the people. Only this time it will be a younger version. The new Zorro (Antonio Banderas) must be taught the ways of honor, courage, class, etc by Hopkins, who has since retired. With the setting now in California, the devious Raphael has plans to take over California and conquer as he did in Spain 20 years ago. And Zorro must stop him once again.
This movie was very entertaining. Banderas steals the show with a fabulous performance as the masked marvel. His good chemistry with Hopkins and doll Catherine Zeta-Jones is noticeable. The brilliant Hopkins once again delivers and holds a steady role. Jones, whose looks could light up a room, makes her mark as yet another beauty with good acting skills. The total package is here: action, drama, humor, everything. And that is why I enjoyed this movie so much. Long live Zorro! |
