"The Living Daylights" showcased the debut of the new James Bond, played by Timothy Dalton. Dalton was a breath of fresh air, not only for the series, but for the Bond fanatics. I mean, Roger Moore was looking really old in the early 80s films. With Dalton, we get a darker, more human Bond. This film is a great debut.
The plot involves the Russians in a weapons conspiracy and it's up to Bond to save the day again. This adventure has some spectacular sets and action sequences that are only outshined by the Brosnan films. The story is pretty exciting and the villians are pretty nasty. The finale is one of the biggest ones ever seen in a Bond film, as it features tons of action. Dalton is fine in this role, even better than his portrayal in the follow-up "Licence to Kill". If you had to pick which Bond film was the best from the 1980s, it would be between this and Moore's "For Your Eyes Only".
