Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
CAST: Peter O'Toole, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Claude Rains
DIRECTOR: David Lean
MPAA RATING: R
RUNNING TIME: 228 Minutes
STUDIO: Columbia

Visually stunning and exquisitely directed, Lawrence of Arabia is one of the all-time greats. A simple story that feels and looks like a novel. It's O'Toole at his best, with fine direction from David Lean. The performances combined with the breathtaking direction puts this film near the very, very top.

Let's start with the directing. Lean outdid himself with this piece. The shots of the dessert are exquisite. He puts in all sorts of different ingredients. There's action, suspense, drama, despair, and celebration. There is also a harsh scene involving quicksand. All of these are what separates good movies from great ones.

One of the top 5 movies of our time, Lawrence of Arabia took home 7 Academy Awards, including Best Director and Picture. O'Toole is very powerful in his lead role. He helps out the Bedouins battle against the Turks during World War I. Classic with a capital C, Lawrence of Arabia is one of the many reasons I love movies so much.
