This film about 2 dysfunctional families of the 1970s shows alot of promise. The characters in the movie are very unique. Kevin Kline plays the father of one family who is having an affair with the wife of the other family. It's interesting to see how Kline's wife deals with this situation. Also on the list of intriguing characters are the children. One wants to experiment with sex; another is in his own little world.
Sigourney Weaver, robbed of an Oscar Nomination, does a very nice job as the mistress to Kline. This is a real solid performance, aside from her days of bashing aliens. In the end, it takes an ice storm to put the families together. For a movie with such grief, bad situations, and damp black settings, you will still enjoy seeing the families go through it. |
