Scorsese tale about the life and times of a mobster (Ray Liotta) who is making his way up the Mafia food chain. Moments of comedy arise, but the movie still has plenty of gratuitous violence along the way. The film has very good performances, with Liotta standing out in the crowd. Pesci took home an Oscar for his supporting role. The scenes involving his mother are hilarious. Definite crowd pleaser, Goodfellas is a well-made gangster flick.
