Matt Damon co-writes and stars in this film about a multi-talented genius, Will Hunting, who has the lifestyle of a low-life underachiever. He's the janitor of the local community college with the mind of Einstein. Will's talent gets discovered by one of the math professors at the school, who has presented his class with an almost impossible math problem to solve. Hunting works the problem with ease and the professor now wants to see Will succeed. After getting arrested for assault, Hunting must see a therapist once a week and help the professor do a little math.
Robin Williams won an Oscar for playing the therapist that works long and hard to help Hunting achieve his dream, whatever that may be. The movie will be called a drama, but it has plenty of comedy. Damon and Ben Affleck, the other writer, created a marvelous script and a brilliant story that landed them an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The film's overall structure has a good feel to it and it is entertaining throughout the entire two hours. There is a lot of enjoyment to be found in this gem from Miramax. |
