Francis Ford Coppola's Oscar-winning story about the fictious '40s mob family, the Corleones, is one of the top 5 movies of all-time. The entire picture is phenominal. The Corleones are one of 5 mob families residing in New York City. Each trying to lay their claim on the other families. The threat of a mob war is always thought of. The Corelones always want their reputation to be about business, not personal vandettas against others, but that policy changes later on...
Don Corleone (Marlon Brando) is better known as the Godfather of the Corleone family. You got a problem, you come to him. Aside from making favors, the Godfather must be careful where we goes. He's a target for the other families. Brando, who won for Best Actor, presents us with one of the most unforgettable characters of our time. Famous quotes abound from him, including "I made him an offer he can't refuse." The all-star also includes the likes of Robert Duvall, James Caan, and Al Pacino. All of those actors deliver fine performances. A young Pacino is the one to keep an eye on.
The direction from Coppola is fantastic. The pace of the movie never slows down. He keeps everything steady and the script is top notch. Classic scenes all-around, including the infamous horse scene. That part defines what the Corleones are all about. Definitely intended as an attention grabber.
The Godfather is followed by 2 more sequels. Winner of 3 Academy Awards (Best Picture, Actor, Best Screenplay), this mafioso film must be seen by all movie lovers. Everthing in it is legendary. You can't have a better cast either, especially since Duvall, Caan and Pacino got nominations. There has never been a mob story quite like this one.
