Fans of dark comedies and PULP FICTION will get a big kick out of this junior varsity version from director Doug Liman (SWINGERS). The movie is broken up into 3 segments, with drugs as the most mentioned item. It's not near as confusing as PULP FICTION's story line. It's actually pretty easy to put the pieces together.

The movie is filled with unforgettable scenes. There is one between a drugged out guy and a cat. The two exchange "thoughts"; it's probably the funniest scene in the entire movie, though several others could qualify.

The performances are excellent, with standouts from Taye Diggs, Sarah Polley, and Timothy Olyphant, who plays a drug dealer that isn't about to do a favor for anyone. Liman's direction is solid. When using recurring scenes, he'll shoot the scene's point of view from whichever character the "segment" is about. It's awesome that he spent that extra time to shoot the different angles. He borrows just a tad from 'FICTION' and throws in a few tricks of his own.

The best of the three segments follow Diggs and his pals to Vegas. They get into a little more trouble than they planned. The Vegas scene pays homage to Liman's other funny film, SWINGERS, which also finds a group of guys inyou guessed itVegas.

Though not as good as PULP FICTION, GO does hold its own. Let's face it, 'FICTION' is a classic that has been and will be mimicked for years. GO slightly mimics its varsity teammate and turns out to be one of the best movies of 1999.
