Deep Rising (1998)
CAST: Treat Williams, Kevin J. O'Conner, Wes Studi, Famke Janssen
DIRECTOR: Stephen Sommers
MPAA RATING: R
RUNNING TIME: 105 Minutes
STUDIO: Buena Vista

Deep sea thriller involving a crew whose gets on board a cruise ship. One problem: the passengers are missing. The thing responsible for the vanishing is giant snake monsters. The movie has below average writing, numerous corpses and blood. Its main objective is to showcase its pretty neat special effects of the creatures. The one setback to this is that it takes roughly an hour before you can see all of the monster. That happens in most monster flicks, the creature(s) are hidden with only glimpses of them being shown.

Still, the movie does have some exciting parts and the story isnt half-bad, though I still dont know what the crews mission was. Maybe theyre just giant snake monster hunters. The characters just dont bring much to the table. Anyone can scream and make bad jokes. What makes the movie a notch better than your average cheapie horror flick is the special effects and a high energized finale.
