Con Air (1997)
CAST: Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich, John Cusack, Ving Rhames
DIRECTOR: Simon West
MPAA RATING: R
RUNNING TIME: 115 Minutes
STUDIO: Touchstone

Most flights are relatively smooth, it's just the ones with about 50 convicts that make the trip a little bumpy. Nicolas Cage has just made parole and is finally going home to see his family. His trip takes a turn for the worse when a group of convicts (Malkovich, Rhames) take over the plane. It's up to Cage to stop them before they escape for good.

The action scenes in this movie are very cool, as with any Bruckheimer production. Cage is a little annoying as he's sports a very fake southern accent. It's the cons that make the movie watchable. Malkovich, as Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom, steals the show. When you want a bad guy, he's the best there is. Cusack is a US Marshal and he probably needs to stick with the indie-flicks, because he's not good when it comes to action star.

The movie has fun and knows it's a mindless blockbuster. Don't take anything seriously and suspend disbelief, and you should have a good time. Take your seat, buckle your belt, grab the popcorn, and enjoy the flight.
