Citizen Kane (1941)
CAST: Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, Everett Sloane
DIRECTOR: Orson Welles
MPAA RATING: NR
RUNNING TIME: 119 Minutes
STUDIO: Turner Entertainment

Orson Welles was at the young age of 25 when he directed, co-wrote, and starred in what the American Film Institute considers the greatest movie of all-time. Not only is it one of the top 3 films ever made, it is also the best scripted one.

Loved by critics and movie fans alike, Citizen Kane follows the rise and fall of a newspaper tycoon using a series of undistracting flashbacks to tell most of the story. Everything in the movie is excellent, including the performance of Orson Welles.

This is what filmmaking is all about. Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, Citizen Kane somehow managed to lose in the Best Picture race. I have never seen a movie quite like this before. "Rosebud" still lives on.
